The SG-BGA-7116 socket accommodates 0.4-mm BGA ICs with a 12 X 12-mm footprint and a 28 X 28 ball array that attaches to the target PCB. The socket then interfaces a 12 x 12-mm POP memory on top with a 0.5-mm or a Samsung 12 x 12-mm 168-ball fine-pitch BGA package.
The socket operates to 40 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. The device dissipates up to several watts without extra heat sinking. Contact resistance is typically 100 mΩ per pin. Pin self inductance is 0.11 nH and mutual inductance is 0.028 nH. Capacitance to ground is 0.028 pF, and current capacity is 5 A per pin. ($2,549 — available now.)
