The THNS256GE8BC 256-Gbyte solid-state drive comes in a 2.5-in. form factor with an advanced multilevel cell (MLC) controller. The 70.6 x 53.6 x 3.0-mm drive features a maximum read speed of 120 Mbytes/s and maximum write speed of 70 Mbytes/s, using a SATA 3.0-Gbyte/s interface.

Also available are 50 x 30-mm flash modules with maximum read and write speeds of 80 and 50 Mbytes/s and 8-, 16-, and 32-Gbyte capacity. (256-Gbyte drive, $946; modules, $47 to $149 — prod qty 4th qtr.)
