RS-232/485 xceivers handle high ESD

The dual-port ISL3332 and ISL3333, and single-port ISL3330 and ISL3331 RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 BiCMOS interface ICs offer 15-kV (HBM) ESD protection and high flexibility. Each port of the ICs can be independently configured as a single RS-485/422 or dual RS-232 transceiver. If either port is in RS-232 mode, the ICs’ charge pumps generate compliant ±5-V transmit levels. The receive inputs can handle up to ±25 V.

The –40° to 85°C operation parts provide 20-Mbit/s data rates. The ISL3331/33 offer a lower speed and edge rate option (115 kbits/s) for EMI-sensitive designs or to allow longer bus lengths, and a logic supply voltage pin that sets the VOH level of logic outputs, and the switching points of logic inputs, to be compatible with another supply voltage in mixed-voltage systems.
