Version 3.2 of the JamaicaVM high-performance Java virtual machine for real-time and embedded systems supports the main features of Java 5. It allows developers to use more standard classes than before and the type safety of applications can be maintained more easily by using generics and enumerations.
The software has a new scheduler supporting real-time priorities within the VM on operating systems that do not provide this function, such as Linux. Thread switch latency remains in the microsecond range, as in earlier versions, and the interpreter is approximately 25% faster.
