The AAT3691 dual-input battery-charger IC provides integrated OVP up to 28 V. It meets industry requirements for flexible and reliable battery charging from multiple sources and intelligently manages inputs from both ac adapters and USB ports. The device targets mobile phones, digital still cameras and other handheld device applications.
The charger regulates battery charge voltage and current for 4.2–V lithium-ion battery cells. It combines a power device, reverse-current blocking and current sensing, and operates from ac adapter inputs and USB ports from 3.0 to 6.75 V. Charge current can be programmed up to 1.6 A via an ADP and up to 0.5 A via a USB port. It suspends charging when no battery is present or a battery trace/connector is defective.
