An update to the company’s free Spice circuit simulation software LTspice/SwitcherCAD III, LTspice IV features multithreaded solvers designed to better use current multicore processors. Also included are new Sparse matrix solvers that deploy assembly language in order to approach the theoretical flop limit of current floating-point units.
The software increases the simulation speed of medium-tolarge-sized circuits by a factor of three on a quad core. The tool implements proprietary methods that efficiently parallelize tasks that would require as little as 5 μs to run single-threaded. LTspice IV also includes integrated schematic capture and waveform viewing. (Free — available now.)
