Flyback controller charges any size cap

The LT3751 flyback controller charges capacitors to voltages as high as 1,000 V. It drives an external n-channel MOSFET and can charge a 1,000-µF capacitor to 500 V in less than 1 s, suiting it for professional photoflash systems, RF security, inventory control systems, and specialized high–voltage power supply applications.

The device uses boundary-mode control to minimize transition losses and deliver up to 88% efficiency. The VCC input voltage extends from 5 to 24 V. A 106-mV differential current-sense threshold limits peak switch current. The controller also offers an on-board selectable 5.6- or 10.5-V 2–A n-channel MOSFET gate driver, a charge pin to control new charge cycles and remote shutdown. ($3.65 ea/1,000 — available now.)
