Touch control converts capacitance to digital

Touch control converts capacitance to digital

The FMA1127 touch sensor controller converts capacitance generated between the human body and a conductive touchpad to digital data without any analog signal processing. It includes touch sensor technology that compares reference and sensor input impedances to detect touch, all in the digital domain. Equipped with an I2 C interface, the part automatically adjusts sensor sensitivity based on the operating environment.

The controller includes Automatic Impedance Calibration (AIC) and ATLab’s Adjacent Pattern Interference Suppression (APIS) filtering function. Features include a voltage range of 2.5 to 5.5 V over –35° to 85°C, a current of less than 0.15 mA, and a time response of 0.2 ms. A total of 8-kV ESD protection is provided for the chip/contact pad and 15 kV for system/air. No ground is required for the touchpad. (From $1.40 ea/10,000 — available now.)
