Current-to-digital converter offers highest level of channel integration
Device also offers the highest speed and enables high-slice-count CT scanners for faster, clearer images
Changing photodiode array signals into digital signals, the 24-bit ADAS1128 current-to-digital converter provides an unparalleled increase in speed from 6 to 20 ksamples/s and offers 128 data conversion channels four times more channels than any other integrated converter solution available today. This level of performance and integration enables high-slice-count CT systems to capture for faster, clearer images — further offering 50% reduction of a CT detection system’s electronics cost versus older designs.
The part consumes 4.5 mW/channel, which is less than half the power of other solutions (10 mW/channel at full speed). It also offers other performance specs, such as no-charge loss, more choices of full-scale ranges, and ultra-low noise (down to 0.4 fC for low-dose x-ray systems).
Housed in a BGA package, the part integrates a temperature sensor and reference buffer. ($1.50 per channel; unit price, $192 ea/250 available now.)
