ESD devices improve impedance matching, have 70% smaller footprint

Additions to the ExtremeESD family, the CM1235 and CM1236 ESD eight-channel protection devices protect four pairs of differential channels, to ±8-kV contact discharge per the IEC61000-4-2 standard and with 40% reduction in peak clamping voltage. The parts are also part of the PicoGuard XS family, which received a 2008 Electronic Products Product of the Year Award for the CM1233 ( www2.electronicproducts.com/-article-poyrr03_jan2009-html.aspx). The CM1236 is said to be pin-compatible with the CM1233, offering improved impedance matching, and the CM1235 provides the same impedance matching and protection, but, in a 4.0 x 1.7-mm TDFN package, with a 70% smaller footprint.

Both devices are available in 16-lead TDFN packages, and meet the HDMI and DisplayPort digital video requirements of 100-Ω differential impedance matching. They are suited for such applications as digital TVs, LCD displays, notebook computers, set top boxes, and Blu-Ray devices. (Ea/1,000: CM1235, $0.47; CM1236, $0.57 available now.)
