Low-noise ADC buffer drives 300-MHz signals

Housed in a 10-lead DFN package, the LTC6416 wideband unity gain 2-GHz differential buffer drives 300-MHz signals with only 1.8 nV/√Hz noise. The part’s programmable output-voltage clamps limit the maximum voltage levels applied to the ADC inputs, ensuring that there is no concern with ADC overdrive recovery.

At 300 MHz, the part maintains −72.5 dBc of third-order intermodulation distortion and −74-dBc/−67.5-dBc second- and third-harmonic distortion, respectively. Operating voltage is from a single 2.7 to 3.9-V supply, and power consumption is 150 mW on 3.6 V. (From $3.50 ea/1,000 available now.)
