15-V, 3-MHz buck regulator delivers 2.5 A

The LTC3603 3-MHz synchronous buck regulator uses a constant-frequency current-mode architecture, and delivers up to 2.5-A output at 0.6 V. It is enclosed in a 4 x 4-mm QFN or a thermally enhanced MSOP-16 package. The regulator operates from a 4.5 to 15-V input, suiting it for dual-cell Li-ion applications as well as 12-V fixed-rail systems.

The regulator switching frequency is user programmable from 300 kHz to 3 MHz. It uses internal switches with an RDS(on) of 45 and 85 mΩ to deliver 95% efficiencies. It is capable of low-dropout 99% duty-cycle operation allowing output voltages close to VIN . No-load quiescent current is 75 µA and
