Fairchild Semiconductor’s Resonant Controller Simplifies Power Design for Applications up to 600W

The FAN7261 resonant controller, ideal for LCD and PDP TVs, servers, game consoles and LED lighting applications, simplifies design, reduces bill of materials and provides advanced functions by integrating a high-side gate-driver circuit, a current-control oscillator, frequency-limit circuit, soft start and numerous protection functions in a 16-pin SOP/DIP package.

News Highlights

Device eliminates need for expensive external circuitry such as pulse transformers, conserving board space and reducing design cost

Internal high-side gate-driver circuit offers common-mode noise cancellation, ensuring excellent noise immunity, meeting EMI specifications

Robust protection features including over voltage protection (OVP), over current protection (OCP), abnormal over current protection (AOCP) and internal thermal shutdown.

ZVS technique dramatically reduces switching losses in MOSFETs and rectifiers.
