The MAX17031 is a dual PWM step-down controller with synchronous rectification that helps generate 5– or 3.3–V bias for supplies in battery-powered systems. This device integrates a 100-mA linear regulator that generates the bias needed for power-up or other lower power supplies. The controller also includes a 5–mA always-enabled linear regulator to power the RTC.
The device employs low-side MOSFET sensing to provide a current sense for valley current-limit protection. It also provides output overvoltage- and undervoltage-protection. The device is available in a 4 x 4–mm 24-pin TQFN package, and is specified from –40° to 85°C. (From $2.75 ea/1,000 — available now.)
