Economy scopes come with expensive functions

Priced starting at $1,200, the six new models that comprise DSO1000 Series digital storage oscilloscopes deliver features normally found on more expensive scopes. Further, they are said to provide greater visibility and productivity than comparable instruments in their class.

Economy scopes come with expensive functions

The entry-level scopes come in two- and four-channel versions with bandwidths of 60, 100, or 200 MHz and are compact, measuring just 5 in. deep and weighing less than 7 lb. Maximum waveform storage of 20 Kpoints/channel lets engineers use the 2-Gsample/s sampling rate up to 8x longer than other oscilloscopes.

The units’ LCD displays are said to offers a sharper image and wider viewing angle than competitive scopes. All units in the series can display 23 automatic measurements — up to 21 simultaneously — including those from a built-in 6-digit counter.

Users can record and replay up to 1,000 occurrences of a trigger to identify glitches and other anomalies, and a suite of DSP filters help focus on a signal’s most relevant spectral content. The instruments also have go/no-go mask testing capability, and USB connections and IntuiLink connectivity software simplify sharing and documenting measurement results. (From $1,200 to $2,410 depending on bandwidth and number of channels — available now.)
