250-W ac/dc power supply is first to achieve 95% efficiency

The CCM250 250-W ac/dc power supply is the first such unit to reach up to 95% efficiency. The supply saves space by employing a three-stage converter using an interleaved, resonant, half-bridge design that uses two small transformers to replace one larger transformer. The power supply measures 6 x 4 x 1.54 in., fits into a 1U enclosure, and targets medical, IT, and industrial systems.

The supply is convection cooled and delivers full output from 90 to 275-Vac input and 200 W at 80 Vac, at ambient temperatures from –10° to 50°C. The unit also supports short-term, peak power needs of 300 W for 500 ms. Conducted and radiated emissions are below Class B limits defined by EN55011.

The power supply provides a zero current, a lossless switching topology for the main converter and a crystal-controlled clock, digitally generated drive signals, and fixed-frequency timing for switching transistors. The unit includes a 5-V standby rail, remote on/off switching, and power-fail signals. ($195 ea/large qty — available now.)
