Brighter mini laser bars couple better with fiber
By closely matching output and beam parameters, next-generation mini laser bars deliver exceptional brilliance in the 910 to 1,020-nm range into a small-core-diameter fiber with a restricted acceptance angle. High brilliance is achieved using a VLOC epitaxial structure and proprietary mirror-coating technology.
For example, the SPL BF series has a 10% fill factor and provides an output of 8 W per emitter at an emitter width of 100 µm with a slow-axis divergence of less than 7° (95% output). Maximum long-life output is about 12 W per 100 µm emitter. With simple optics, light from several mini bars can be coupled into a 200-µm-core, 0.22-NA fiber for outputs greater than 200 W.
