Opto proximity sensor is thin for mobile apps
The 1,1-mm thin APDS-9120 optical proximity sensor suits portable consumer electronics such as cell phones, PDAs, handheld games, and notebook PCs. It integrates a signal-conditioning IC, emitter, and detector with analog or digital output options in a 4.4 x 4.4-mm package.
The RoHS-compliant sensor has a 30-mm typ detection range, and its ambient-light-cancellation circuit operates to 100 klux. The sensor, which needs no external LED driver, has a stuck-high protection circuit to preserve LED life and a 1-μA shutdown-mode current to conserve power.
