Each real-time clock/calendar uses an external 32.768-kHz crystal that tracks time by date, year, months, week, and hour, minute, and seconds. Multiple selectable alarms allow a flexibility of alarm choices, with outputs for beepers or lights. The calendar is accurate through 2099, with automatic leap-year correction.

All parts offer a two-wire I2 C interface. The ISL12059 provides a 512-Hz frequency output, while the ISL12057/8 offer four selectable frequency outputs. The ISL12059 is offered in an 8-lead SOIC package, and the ISL12057/8 in 8-lead µTDFN, MSOP, and SOIC. The ISL12058 is also offered in an 8-lead TDFN. (From $0.92 ea/1,000 — available now.)
