DAC integrates nonvolatile EEPROM

The 12-bit quad MCP4728 D/A converter integrates nonvolatile EEPROM, which enables the DAC’s configuration to be loaded automatically on startup. This device provides a four-channel architecture and internal voltage reference.

DAC integrates nonvolatile EEPROM

Nonvolatile EEPROM allows designers to program MCP4728 DAC input codes, configuration bits and I2 C address bits to the EEPROM using I2 C serial-interface commands. The result is that these data are held during power-off time, making the DAC’s configuration and outputs available immediately after power-up. Available in a 10-pin MSOP, each channel in the part can be individually shut down, thereby reducing power consumption to 0.04 µA, which helps to extend battery life. ($1.36 ea/10,000; MCP4728 evaluation board, $15 — available now.)
