200-mA LDO regulator’s auto low-power mode increases runtime
The TPS727xx family of 200-mA LDOs offers an auto low-power mode that combines ultra-low quiescent current (
The LDO has a transient response of ±50 mV for 200 mA, 32-µVrms noise, and 70 dB at 1-kHz PSRR. It provides 130-mV dropout plus an output voltage range of 0.9 to 5 V. The auto low-power mode allows the LDO to achieve the low quiescent current without an additional mode pin and automatically switches to and from low power depending on load current. Additionally, the use of auto low-power mode eliminates the need to modify software drivers to control the mode pin. It also reduces cost by eliminating the need for a general-purpose input/output pin and overhead firmware. The TPS727xx is available in a 1.5 x 1.5-mm SON-6 package and a 0.8 x 1.22-mm 0.4-mm-pitch four-ball wafer chip-scale package. ($0.48 ea/1,000 — available now.)
