PCIe Gen2 switches provide 24 ports

The new ExpressLane PEX 8625 and PEX 8636 PCIe Gen2 switch ICs have 24 lanes/24 ports or 36 lanes/24 ports and feature the visionPAK software suite of system debug tools and signal-integrity utilities. Both chips also feature the ability to multicast, which allows each host to communicate to all endpoints at the same time.

The ICs offer nontransparency for system redundancy, ports that are configurable as x1 or x4, and registers that are configurable with strapping pins, EEPROM, or I2 C. They come in 35 x 35-mm 1156-ball FCBGA packages. ($58.03 and $73.72 ea/volume qty — samples available now.)
