1-A LED driver reduces size, cuts cost

Housed in a DFN package, the 1-A DLD101 linear mode, constant-current LED driver is designed to reduce the size and cost of a range of general illumination products, including flashlights and lighting in emergency, garden and poolside applications. By integrating a unique ‘base accessible pre-biased transistor’, the part has been able to incorporate biasing resistors on chip, meaning the LED current setting is now set via a single external resistor without the need for an additional boost transistor.

For the pass element, a high drain current 60-V N-channel MOSFET has been used instead of a bipolar transistor to reduce the overall bias current. The DLD101 also removes the EMI signature associated with switching regulator solutions. (Call company for pricing and availability.)
