SATA redriver supports data rates of 3.0 GB/s

SATA redriver supports data rates of 3.0 GB/s

Designed to redrive SATA I and SATA II signals, the dual-channel MAX4951AE bidirectional redriver preserves signal integrity at the receiver by reestablishing full output levels, and it can reduce total system jitter by squaring the signal. It delivers data rates up to 3.0 Gbits/s. The device also supports SATA out-of-band signaling by using high-speed amplitude detection on the inputs and amplitude squelch on the corresponding outputs.

Input signals of 50 mVp-p or less are detected as off and not passed to the output, whereas signals of 200 mVp-p or more are detected as on and passed through the output. The part offers a feature in which it can enter a low-power standby mode when the integrated cable-detect pin is either pulled high or left unconnected. Housed in a 20-pin TQFN package, the redriver offers ±8-kV ESD (HBM) protection, operates from a single 3.3-V supply, and is fully specified over the 0° to 70°C commercial temperature range.
