Cortex CPU targets digital signal control

The Cortex-M4 processor core IP combines DSP and control-processing capabilities for designs in motor control, automotive, power management, embedded audio, and industrial automation. The core, on a 65-nm process, runs at 150 MHz while using just 6.0 mW, or less than 40 µW/MHz.

The IP features a single-cycle multiply-accumulate (MAC) unit, optimized single-instruction multiple-data (SIMD) instructions, saturating arithmetic instructions, and an optional single-precision floating-point unit. It yields 1.25-DMIPS/MHz performance, uses the Thumb-2 instruction set, and has a nested vector interrupt controller for excellent interrupt handling.
