Low-power 32-bit MCUs cost less than a buck

Starting at less than a dollar, the EFM32 Tiny Gecko 32-bit microcontroller family offers the energy-efficient performance of a Cortex-M3 core. The microcontrollers have active current of typically 180 µA/MHz and a 900-nA deep sleep mode.

The QFN20-packaged EFM32TG100 devices have 4 to 32 Kbytes of flash, 1 to 4 Kbytes of RAM and 12 GPIO. The QFN32-packaged EFM32TG200 and QFN64-packaged EFM32TG230 and EFM32TG840 have 8, 16, or 32 Kbytes of flash and either 2 or 4 Kbytes of RAM. TG840 devices also have a 4 x 24 segment LCD controller that takes less than 900 nA, and all versions have an AES security engine. (From $0.99 ea/100,000 — samples available 3rd qtr.)
