16-kV optoisolators handle 2-Mbit/s rates

The OPI1268 high-voltage optoisolator is designed to provide power isolation on PC boards used in industrial, medical, and office systems. The component delivers up to 16-kVac/dc isolation at data transmission rates of 2 Mbits/s.

The part uses a high-efficiency GaAlAs LED (850 nm peak) optically coupled to a Photologic photodiode. Forward current is 10 mA typ or 50 mA max, propagation delay is less than or equal to 500 ns, and creepage path is 0.970 in. Packaged in a high-dielectric-plastic housing, the 27.94 x 6.35 x 8.89-mm device is UL recognized. (Typically $3.48 ea/1,000 stock to 6 weeks ARO.)
