Automotive LED works with light guides

The OSTAR Compact LED has been developed specifically for use in a vehicle’s daytime running headlights based on light-guide technology. Based on a 2-mm2 chip, the compact SMT device’s ability to be driven with high currents suit it for existing and new headlight designs. In addition to point-source solutions, linear or two-dimensional designs can be produced with only a few LEDs.

With a 5-W power draw and 1.4-A operating current, the LED has a typical brightness of 300 lm and its thermal resistance is 6 K/W, The light source does not need a reflector or lens, and units are available in the finely graded color groups that meet ECE / SAE binning specs.
