Tri-band freq synthesizers integrate VCOs

Housed in a compact RoHS-compliant 6 x 6-mm QFN SMT packages, the HMC838LP6CE and HMC839LP6CE synthesizers include a wideband low-noise VCO with auto-calibration subsystem, low-noise PFD and dividers, and a precision charge pump. These synthesizers deliver a phase noise performance of –227-dBc/Hz figure-of-merit (FOM) in fractional-N mode (–230-dBc/Hz FOM integer-N mode), while consuming only 650 mW of dc power.

With typical channel spacing (200 kHz, 20-kHz loop bandwidth), spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 75 dB is typical. The HMC838LP6CE is tunable over three separate frequency bands (795 to 945 MHz, 1,590 to 1,890 MHz, and 3,180 MHz to 3,780 MHz), while the HMC839LP6CE is tunable over three separate frequency bands (1,050 to 1,205 MHz, 2,100 to 2,410 MHz, and 4,200 to 4,820 MHz).
