Providing a family of low-power processors for embedded applications such a smart phones and energy meters using the Power Architecture, the APM80181, APM80186, and APM80187 MCUs feature small 10 x 10- and 14 x 14-mm BGA packages. They yield 912-Dhrystone-MIPS performance with typical power consumption of 0.3 W in standby and 1.0 W at 600 MHz in full operation.
The devices have an LVDS LCD controller, two 10/100/1G Ethernet MACs, 128 Kbytes of RAM, a 16-bit DDR2 interface at up to 600 Mbits/s (with optional ECC), a 128-bit 200-MHz main processor bus, AHB and APB peripheral buses, a 32-data-bit NOR controller, and a 4-channel DMA controller. They also have an optional IPSec/SSL/bulk data security acceleration engine, a USB 2.0 OTG port with PHY, two x1 PCI-Express 1.1 ports, and a SATA II port. (Less than $10 ea/10,000 — samples available June; production 3rd qtr.)
