Suitable for driving 1- or 3-W high-brightness LEDs, the MIC3223 LED driver is a monolithic switching regulator with integrated 3.5-A, 37-V power switch. The part can drive up to nine LEDs in series with ±5% current accuracy from an input voltage range of 4.5 to 20 V. The part offers an efficiency of greater than 90%.
The driver also features a PWM-dimming input and an output driver to drive an external n-channel FET for PWM dimming at frequencies up to 20 kHz. The device is protected against overtemperature and output overvoltage. Housed in an exposed-pad TSSOP-16L package, the IC operates over a junction temperature range of –40° to 125°C.
