Low-power 8-bit MCUs have touch-sense option
Said to be the industry’s lowest-power capacitive touch-sense MCUs, the C8051F99x/F98x families offer wake-on-touch power consumption below 1 µA. Active current is 3.75 mA at 25 MHz from 1.8 to 3.6 V, and sleep current, with data retention on and brownout detection disabled, is just 10 nA.
The F99x series has touch control with high-resolution capacitance-to-digital converter, 40-µs acquisition time, and 13 or 14 sensing inputs. Both families have 25 MIPS performance, up to 8 Kbytes of flash, 512 bytes of RAM, optional 12-bit A/D converter, and I2C, SPI, and UART I/O. They come in QFN24, QSOP24, and 20-pin 3 x 3-mm QFN packages. (From $0.85 ea/10,000 samples available now.)
