Suited for LED billboards as well industrial and medical displays, the 60-V LT3596 constant-current LED driver drives up to 30 LEDs. From a 48-V input, the device can drive up to three strings of LEDs, each with up to 10 100-mA LEDs in series, delivering efficiencies of over 90%. The part provides 10,000:1 True Color PWM dimming at 100 Hz.

Additional features include an input voltage range from 6 to 60 V, an accurate LED current matching of 1.5%, and a programmable switching frequency from 200 kHz to 1 MHz. Housed in a 39-pin QFN package, the LT3596 also offers open, short LED detection and reporting, programmable LED thermal derating and reporting, and programmable temperature protection.
