MLCCs are alternative to tantalum, alum caps
The DSC Series multilayer ceramic capacitors use a dual in-line packages and offer an alternative to tantalum and aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Originally designed for switch-mode power supplies, the MLCC series provides a very low ESR and crosses to each of the 420 dash numbers of DSCC drawing 87106, which is still widely used in COTS applications.
The series offers values from 20 nF to 330 µF, at voltages from 50 to 500 Vdc within an operating temperature range of –55° to 200°C. The series uses HMP solder for protection against lead separation during board installation. (One stack, 3 size unit of 10 µF at 100 Vdc, $7 ea/500 — 8 weeks ARO.)
