The DM3730 and DM3725 video processors feature 1-GHz Cortex-A8 processors and 800-MHz C64x+ DSP cores plus an imaging and video accelerator. The 3730 also has a 3D graphics processor. The chips are said to yield a 50% increase in ARM and 40% increase in DSP performance, and 2x graphics performance increase with 40% less power consumption than a OMAP3530 device.
The ICs are software compatible with the OMAP35x processors and pin-to-pin compatible with the Sitara AM37x. The chips enable 720p HD video for a variety of low-power applications such as portable gaming devices, navigation systems, media players, and Web tablets. They have SDRAM and general-purpose/flash external memory controllers, a 32-Kbyte ROM, a 64-Kbyte shared SRAM, high-speed USB, five multichannel buffered serial ports, and four UARTs. (XDM3730, from $25.60 ea/1,000 samples available now.)
