Based on the OmniPixel3-HS architecture, the 2-Mpixel OV2643 and OV2659 SOC CMOS image sensors are designed for mid- to low-end phones. They can capture 30-fps 720p HD video with high low-light sensitivity, and their image processing capability is said to rival that of many high-end digital still cameras.
The 1/5-in.-format, 4-mm-high OV2659 is built with 1.75-μm, 950-mV/lux-sec-sensitivity pixels and is aimed at cost-sensitive applications. The 1/4-in.-format OV2643 uses 2.2-μm, 1250-mV/lux-sec pixels to target more performance-centric applications. Both sensors fit standard 6.5 x 6.5-mm camera modules and have serial-camera-control-bus and DVP parallel-output interfaces.
