I/O hub hooks Atom µP to automotive apps

The ConneXt I/O hub is designed to work with the Atom processor E600 series processors in automotive infotainment systems. The IC connects to the CPU via PCIe and provides Ethernet AVB, CAN and MOST, SATA, USB OTG and SD/SDIO/MMC interfaces.

The chip’s open interface allows the chip to be easily customized for in-vehicle infotainment solutions. It is said to enable simultaneous 3D navigation and hands-free cellphone use while passengers surf the Internet or play games on different multiple displays. ($7.50 ea/high qty samples available May 2011.)
