All-silicon CMOS oscillator is industry’s most accurate
The IDT3C02 all-silicon CMOS oscillator is offered as the most accurate device of its kind — achieving a 100-ppm total frequency error across temperature, voltage, and other factors. It replaces quartz crystal-based oscillators with a monolithic CMOS IC at very thin form factors without the use of any mechanical frequency source or PLL.
In addition, the oscillator is designed with a unique analog core, which consumes less than 2.5 mA (unloaded, typ), while delivering best-in-class –140-dBc/Hz phase noise at 1-MHz offset from carrier. It also features a 200-nA typ low-power standby mode, and fast startup time of 100 µs typ.
Measuring 5 x 3.2 mm, the device uses a programmable architecture and supports various configuration options to suit a broad range of applications, such as next-generation storage datacom, and connectivity interface applications. Perhaps most critical among these options is the frequency of operation, which is programmed by the factory and allows for shorter lead times, including unique or uncommon frequencies, compared with traditional quartz solutions.
