High-speed op amps

From what I have been covering it appears that the future trend in operational amplifiers will continue to be higher speeds, better performance, lower power, and, of course, hot markets, such as next-generation communications, video, and imaging applications. When it comes to better performance the designer is looking for wide bandwidth, high slew rate, better precision, low noise, and rail-to-rail input/output. Packaging options will also play a role for many of today’s challenging applications.

According to market research firm Databeans (www.databeans.net), high-speed amplifier revenue by market segment for 2010 is estimated for a total of $582 million for 2010, an increase compared to $422 million in 2009, while they predict an increase to $822 million in 2015. See table :

In addition, according to Databeans, Asia Pacific has increased amplifier shipment in 2010 to 849 million units, from 511 million units for 2009. America and Europe rank the lowest and it does not seem to be changing much in the future, see table :

The major players in the high-speed amplifier market will continue to be Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Maxim Integrated Products, National Semiconductor, Intersil, and Linear Technology.
