GPS LNAs offers lowest noise figures in smallest packages

Offered in the industry’s smallest package, a 1-mm2 WLP, the MAX2667/MAX2669 GPS LNAs feature an industry-low noise figure of 0.65 dB — improving receive sensitivity and read range over discrete or highly integrated CMOS solutions. These parts require only four external components to complete the board-level design (plus an optional resistor for logic-enabled shutdown). Due to its performance and size, these parts are suitable for smartphones, PNDs, and other portable devices.

Each provide different linearity options to suit system requirements. The MAX2669 (at 4.5 dBm) provides approximately 8 dBm better in-band and out-of-band IIP3 than the MAX2667 (at –3.5 dBm), for a mere 4.0 mA extra supply current.

In addition, the MAX2667 is optimized for a low operating supply current of 4 mA typ. When not in use, both LNAs have an optional logic-enabled shutdown mode that reduces supply current to less than 1 µA.

Operating voltage is from a 1.6 to 3.3-V supply, and temperature range is specified from –40° to 85°C. (From $0.54 ea/1,000; MAX2667EVKIT/MAX2669EVKIT, $110 each — available now.)
