Offered as an expansion to its fourth-generation High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP4) LTE power amplifier (PA) family, the ALT67xx series HELP4 4G PAs have three selectable power modes to deliver the power and linearity required for 4G mobile devices over a full range of operating conditions. They are claimed to offer the industry’s lowest quiescent current at less than 4 mA and an average current reduction of 30%, compared with previous-generation PAs.
The part’s are based on the company’s IaGaP-Plus technology to achieve optimal efficiency across low-range and mid-range output power levels. As an example, the ALT6701, which operates from 1,920 to 1,980 MHz, offers a quiescent current of 2 mA and 41% efficiency ar 28.4 dBm. Offering a 3 x 3 x 1-mm footprint, the family features integrated dc blocks of RF ports, internal voltage regulation, and integrated “daisy-chainable” directional RF coupler with 20-dB directivity.
