The Atom processor Z670 targets tablet and netbook designs and provides integrated graphics. It delivers improved video playback, faster Internet browsing, and longer battery life compared to previous versions. The chip is also 60% smaller and supports 1080p video decode, HDMI, and Adobe Flash.
The single-core processor runs at 1.2 or 1.5 GHz and has a 512-Kbyte L1 cache. It comes with the SM35 Express chipset, which provides SATA, SPI, HD audio, and USB 2.0. Thermal design power is 3 W, and the chipset takes another 0.75 W. The processor operates from 1.11 to 1.50 V using DDR2-800 memory. The processor’s enhanced SpeedStep Technology cuts power by optimizing subsection voltage and frequency. The device has a 7-year lifecycle support policy. (List price, $64 — production in May.)
