PLL synthesizer offers wide frequency range

The ADF4351 PLL synthesizer allows implementation of fractional-N or integer-N operation continuously over a wide range of 35 to 4,400 MHz. The part integrates a VCO, supports dual output ports, and features programmable divide-by-1/2/4/8/16/32/64 circuits, which allow the user to generate RF output frequencies as low as 35 MHz.

For applications that require isolation, the RF output stage can be muted. The mute function is both pin- and software-controllable. An auxiliary RF output is also available, which can be powered down if not in use. Housed in a 32-lead LFCSP, the ADF4351 also offers an rms jitter of 0.3 ps typical, a typical EVM of 0.4% at 2.1 GHz, and a power supply ranging from 3.0 to 3.6 V. ($11.13 ea/1,000 — samples available now; prod qty, Fall 2011.)
