LED bulb replaces 75-W incandescent

The AmbientLED 17-W LED light bulb, which delivers 1,100 lm of 2,700K CT light, is said to be the brightest LED alternative to a standard incandescent available on the market today. Priced under $40, it is estimated to save $160 in electricity costs over its lifespan, versus a traditional 75-W incandescent.

The 3.23 (dia.) x 7.87-in. retrofit bulb is designed to meet Energy Star specifications, and will consume close to 80% energy less energy and last about 25 times longer than a conventional incandescent bulb. Built using Luxeon LEDs, the LED bulb fits existing fixtures and works with standard dimmers. ($39.97 — available now at www.homedepot.com.)
