The 3U VPX VPX3-1TB 1-Tbyte flash storage module provides rugged, high-capacity, solid-state SATA storage and is designed for military applications. The unit has a NIST-certified 256-bit AES data encryption capability. The card’s four banks can be configured to appear as four separate SATA drives.
The drive is available in a VITA 46 and VITA 48.2 REDI variants and features 160-Mbyte/s RAID 0 performance or 100-Mbyte/s/port JBOD performance. Power consumption is 12 W max RAID 0 or 9 W max JBOD, and the drive has RS-232 or I2C host management functions. The drives flash components have an MTBF of 2 M hours and cells are rated for over 100,000 write cycles. ($35,000 — contact factory for availability.)
