Tool inserts board tester into an FPGA

The FPGA-controlled test (FCT) tools for the ASSET ScanWorks platform lets designers select the instrument paradigms (e.g., oscilloscope testing, logic analysis, signal generation) they need, set test parameters, and insert the isntrumentation into an FPGA so it can function as a circuit-board-tester-on-a-chip to perform validation, test, and debug.

Instruments or instrument functions are selected from a library and matched with a description of one of the supported FPGAs in another library. After the user sets the selected instruments’ configuration parameters, ScanWorks automatically generates all the constructs for the embedded tester, creates the software image of the tester need to program the FPGA, inserts the tester into the FPGA, and provides a drag-and-drop user interface for controlling the FCT.(Development license pricing, $35,000 — available in December.)
