100-kS/s daq modules have prices under $600

The ECONseries DT9812A, DT9813A, and DT9814A USB-powered data acquisition modules offer multifunction capability with USB 2.0 compliance and sampling rates to 100 ksamples/s. Prices range from $475 to $575 depending on model.

The modules provide 12-bit resolution for analog I/O, with 8, 16, or 24 single-ended analog input channels depending on the model, as well as 2 analog output channels to generate sine, rectangle, triangle, or dc waveforms. The modules also have a 32-bit counter/timer — useful for event counting, frequency measurement, edge-to-edge measurements, and rate generation (continuous pulse output) operations — and, on some models, 4 or 8 digital I/O lines. Software and drivers compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7 are included. (DT9812A, $475; 13A, $525; 14A $575 — available now.)
