Integrated buck converters target LCD monitors
The AP6502 and AP6503 buck dc/dc converters target consumer electronics systems such as digital TV, LCD monitors and set-top boxes. They handle continuous load currents of up to 2 A or 3 A, respectively, and can support 12− and 5−V bus systems and are able to achieve efficiency as high as 95%. The output voltage is set using an external resistor divider and can accommodate any output voltage setting down to 0.925 V.
The dc/dc converters have a switching frequency of 340 kHz and incorporate RDS(on) high- and low-side power MOSFETs to reduce the need for external components. The devices include an external, programmable soft start control input to reduce excess current during initial power-up of the application.
