Encryption engine IC is NIST FIPS certified

The STM7007 (HardCache-SL3/PC) hardware-accelerated encryption engine is said to be the world’s first NIST FIPS 140-2 Level 3certified encryption IC. The chip performs all needed encryption and decryption algorithms each time data is retrieved from memory to the CPU, with no impact to performance.

The device can perform AES Rijndael block cipher, Triple DES, and SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512 encryption. It has a PCI Express x1 interface; takes 257-mW average power; uses 1.2-, 2.5-, and 3.3-V supplies; and comes in a 5 x 5-mm 32-pin LGA package. (Price not provided samples available 4th qtr.)
