42-V buck converter features 2.5-µA quiescent current
The LT3973 750-mA 42-V step-down switching regulator features integrated boost and catch diodes. Its Burst Mode operation keeps quiescent current under 2.5 µA in no load standby conditions. It provides a 4.2 to 42-V input range and suits automotive and industrial applications. The internal 1.2-A switch can deliver up to 750 mA of continuous output current to voltages as low as 1.21 V.
The step-down converter maintains a minimum dropout voltage of 530 mV when the output voltage drops below the programmed output voltage. The switching frequency is user programmable from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz. The device has integrated into a single die a 250-mV CESAT switch, boost and catch diodes, oscillator, and control and logic circuitry. t features include a power good flag, internal catch diode current limit and thermal protection. (Ea/1,000: LT3973EDD DFN-10 package, $2.75; LT3973EMSE MSOP-10 package, $2.85 — available now.)
